Description This volume examines the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU (Charter) from the perspective of judicial interaction. In particular, the book analyses how judicial interaction has contributed to the application of the Charter at EU level, its vertical impact at the domestic level, as well as its interaction with other international and European legal systems. It will show that judicial interaction techniques pursued by courts have solved issues of normative or judicial interpretation incompatibility in a way that has ensured coherence and coordination among the multi-layered legal and judicial systems in the safeguard of human rights pursued by various legal orders. Furthermore, judicial interaction on the Charter has been instrumental not only in the settlement of individual disputes, but also in creeping competences and changing the legal systems. The book brings together leading authors from various backgrounds, including legal scholars, judges and practitioners. This allows the collection to offer theoretical and practical perspectives as regards the current and forthcoming challenges related to fundamental rights application.
