havior and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle need to be shaped and strengthened. The school also plays an important role in this long-term work. School must have elaborated its preventive program, which is governed and controlled. It refers to measures to prevent risky behavior such as substance abuse, gambling, bullying, truancy, racism, xenophobia. Mixed research design was used. Three secondary schools in Brno were selected using a snowball sampling method. Using content analysis of documents and interviews with school prevention methodists, preventive programs were evaluated according to criteria published in the literature. In addition, answers were received from 147 pupils addressed by an anonymous 21– item questionnaire. The results showed that the preventive program of school 1 was processed very well, at school 2 it contained a greater number of shortcomings, at school 3 it did not even meet the basic requirements. The questionnaire revealed that preventive activities are very sporadic at 2 schools, one at regular intervals. Most often they are lectures, less often discussions, excursions, film screenings. Interviewees most appreciated the film screenings, less activities that allowed for their personal involvement. More than half of the sample is a passive consumer of prevention, although there is almost always space for feedback. The typical duration of activities is 1–2 hours, pupils mostly like them and activities are almost always free for them. The most common topic of prevention is illegal addictive substances. Pupils are also interested in other topics, mainly about addiction to modern technologies, eating disorders, bullying, risks associated with sexual intercourse. Subjective assessment of school prevention is average, respondents enjoy activities and consider them useful, but only 15% of them acknowledged their wider impact and change in their own lifestyle. More than half of those addressed would not be prevented from using drugs. Prevention is presented mainly in the basics of social sciences, a strong emphasis is placed on the personality of the lecturer.
