Description Paper aims to describe the spatial symptoms of the City of Brno post-industrial development. Qualitative mapping of changing spatial patterns of selected City functions is the tool to explore geographically the decline of production functions, the emergence of consumption and as well the changing symbolism of particular places within the city space. Empirical analyses are based on broad survey of spatial changes of industrial employment and retail floorspace carried out between 1987 and 2003. The findings on changing spatial patterns of production and consumption are critically approached from the viewpoints of post-industrial city concept.
