Description A significant part of current as well as future global problems is directly linked to the size of human population. Human overpopulation which we are witnessing nowadays is the cause of severe environmental, healthcare, political, economic and social problems. One of the ways of solving this problem (and by far the most humane) is education and empowerment of women, support of women’s rights, family planning methods and availability of contraception. Gynecologists who are already partially (and indirectly) involved in solving this problem could however become the main bearers of reductive efforts – via their international and national organizations they could do so directly, systematically and globally. Overpopulation, if accepted by gynecological societies, could become the greatest challenge for gynecology of the 21st century.
