Description The monograph examines the functions of humor and irony for the subject positioning modes in the TV German language course "Mein Almanca" In this context, an analytical perspective was developed that reflects the concepts of humor, irony, addressing, othering and subjectification. As part of the analysis, four Key Incidents are focused on (humor as a means of defense and re-addressing, humor for keeping uncertainity, humor as an instrument of power and the fact of no entitlement to humor). The analysis shows that humor in the language course in question often leads to an increased ability to express racism and that the figures of the migrant not-us are hierarchized based on their participation on humor.
