Description Despite the development of virtual technologies, autopsy remains an essential tool for the morphological study of many medical disciplines. As part of the posthumous diagnosis, it is very important, but destructive to the integrity of the body process. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid major violations body than is necessary, in particular by adequately adapting the autopsy technique and adjusting the body to meet it legislative, ethical and reverential demands, as well as diagnostic yield. In 2015, according to ÚZIS statistics autopsy performed in 17.9% of deaths, in 2016 in 14.2% and in 2017 for 18.14% of persons out of the total annual number of the deceased (Fig. 1A-C). Unlike some European countries, the autopsy procedure in the Czech Republic is only now standardized by the Standard Operating Procedure for Execution autopsy by a provider in the field of forensic medicine „SOP - Autopsy. The draft standard has been under development since 2018 expert group of the Czech Society of Forensic Medicine and forensic toxicology. A detailed procedure for internal examination of the body during autopsy will be included in the relevant appendix to the standard surgical procedure. Partial autopsy, i.e. not opening all three body cavities, is referred to as inadmissible. The autopsy must be performed at the appropriate professional level, the so-called de lege lata, which means that is based on current judicial expertise medicine.
