Description More than two million people joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia after May 1945, so in the summer of 1948, every third adult citizen of Czechoslovakia had a party ID. However, the leadership realized that a situation in which almost anyone who was interested was accepted was contrary to Lenin's ideal of an actionable revolutionary party. Although the solution in the form of mass screenings of members (1948, 1950, 1953) slightly reduced their number, it did not lead to the desired cleansing of the party, which ruled Czechoslovakia.
