Description Until now, researchers in the Czech Republic have had the opportunity to use the NEO inventory to diagnose personality traits. These are the methods that are the most widely used in the world, but their use in research is charged and their use online is limited. In this presentation we will introduce two alternative methods for measuring personality that are now available in the country - the Big Five Inventory (BFI-2) and The International Personality Item Pool Big-Five Factor Markers (IPIP BFFM). The BFI-2 measures 15 subscales in addition to the five general personality dimensions and includes two abbreviated versions (BFI-2-S and BFI-2-XS). In validating the Czech version, we observed good psychometric properties, represented by good internal consistency of the scales, satisfactory internal consistency of the subscales, and good retest stability. We confirmed the existence of a hierarchical structure with 15 subscales. We found that the short versions BFI-2-S and BFI-2-XS reconstruct 91% and 77% of the BFI-2 scale scores, respectively. The second method is based on the International Personality Item Pool, which contains more than three thousand items measuring psychological constructs contained in many commercially used psychodiagnostic instruments, including instruments measuring personality traits. We translated and validated the 50-item IPIP BFFM into Czech. The results showed that the method has satisfactory psychometric characteristics (reliability, retest stability, factor structure). Correlations of the IPIP BFFM with the BFI-2 ranging from 0.66 (agreeableness) to 0.87 (conscientiousness) also indicate satisfactory convergent validity. At the end of the presentation, we compare the methods available in the country for personality diagnosis and list their strengths and limitations.
