| Description | The film will guide us within 15 minutes through the history of the use of pyrolyzed biological material by people on different continents of the past (terra preta soils in the Amazon) to improve the soil environment, energy use of biochar over many centuries in Europe, methods and results of interdisciplinary research brigging humanities (history, archeology) with natural and technical disciplines (soil science, biodiversity of the herbaceous layer, biodiversity of microorganisms in the soil, reconstruction of the historical species composition of forests, use of laser scanning for the detection of militias). Finally, it clarifies the potential of biochar for carbon sequestration and its further use in current forestry and agriculture. |
