Description In this presentation I dealt with two selected theories of the aim of punishment, namely rehabilitation, otherwise also called corrective, and restitution, otherwise also called compensatory, and their manifestation in Czech criminal law. In the introductory part, I introduced these theories and their position in the overall system of different approaches to punishment, as well as in the historical context of the development of criminological theories and schools. Emphasis was placed primarily on the connection of these theories with the person of the offender. I did not forget to present selected arguments for and against the inclination to these approaches to punishment both in criminological and criminal law theory and practice. In the following part of the presentation, I introduced rehabilitation and restorative elements, which in my opinion, can be indicated in various institutes of substantive and procedural criminal law. Subsequently, a synthesis of the findings was performed and I also presented what conclusions can be reached on the basis of the above mentioned.
