Description The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the life situation of students all over the world. In the presented text, we will return to the beginnings of the pandemic in the Czech Republic in the spring of 2020 and bring two examples from research analyzing the thinking of university social work students in connection with the sudden and unexpected interruption of contact teaching by many actors. The research was informed through a qualitative research strategy; the technique of data collection was the content analysis of seminar theses, which during the mentioned period were written by selected students of one of the Czech public universities as part of a course focused on their professional practice and the supervision of these practices. These seminar papers were not originally supposed to serve as research material, but reading them stimulated a scientific interest in the author, who is also the teacher of the given course, because the students here showed interesting and inspiring attitudes related to the period experienced.
