Description In late medieval monarchies, it was quite possible to successfully cope with the serious illness, death and dying of the king. Very often, however, the death of a king was a moment of crisis that could lead to a significant fragilisation of the royal government or dynasty. The lecture tried to present this problem using the case study of Bohemia in the 15th century, where the death of the king always created a large space for power struggles between the elites of the court and the country. The lecture tried to present this problem using the case study of Bohemia in the 15th century, where the death of the king always created a large space for power struggles between the elites of the court and the country. The lecturer focused on the last months or weeks of each ruler, when he was already ill, as well as the period immediately after his death. He tried to present this period of crisis as an example of "fragile rule".
