| Description | The U3V lecture focused on the work of selected sculptors from Central Europe who explored the nature of soft materials such as plaster, paper and textiles. Their material and formal experimentation contributed significantly to the transformation of sculpture in Central Europe between the 1960s and 1980s. Yet, for many years, their work stood outside the mainstream canon of Euro-American art history. A renewed interest in their work is only now emerging with the growing wave of postcolonial and feminist studies that seek to add to this canon the work of Central and Eastern European artists. |
