| Description | The article discusses the ideas of Roman Jacobson which played an important role in the development of philology. Their cultural and semiotic orientation is investigated. The scientific biography of the scientist emphasizes the importance of the Czechoslovak period and participation in the activities of the Prague Linguistic Circle. The emphasis is made on those areas of the scientist’s scientific activity that go beyond the framework of linguistics itself: semiotics and the theory of communication associated with it and the theory of translation. |
