Description The literary canon is understood by the public to be classical, time-tested, high-quality and, above all, universally known works. When I asked the pupils of the 7th grade of primary school (i.e. about 13 years old) in my preparatory group for the high school entrance exams who among them knew Erben's The Posy, most of them came forward. A similar level of familiarity can be assumed for adult readers. But how are new editions of this work communicated? Is there an appeal to the canonicity of the work, or are the novelties and specificities emphasised to encourage potential readers to buy? And how are the transmediations of the pretext communicated? Is there more of a tendency to communicate the new work as an homage to the pretext, or is there instead an attempt to distinguish the new media product as clearly as possible from the original? And how are the motifs of the pretext itself transformed within these transmediations? I will try to answer these questions in my paper.
