Description The current development of the armoured suburbs is an opportunity to explore the industrial factories of the 19th century, including their energy background. Rescue investigations have yielded valuable information for industrial archaeology in the Czech Republic and the construction development of factory operations, which was largely determined by the need to switch to new sources of energy. The contribution will present this turning point in archaeological sources. Evidence of the use of steam energy will be presented on examples of finds from the Brno suburbs. Specifically, it is the background of the steam engine and steam boilers from the M. Redlich factory, the boiler room of the A. Popper factory and the liquidglass furnaces of the chemical factory of Hochstetter and Schickardt.
