Description Education for proper nutrition of children and youth includes basic elements of health promotion in society burdens. When shaping this process in schools, the breadth of its aspects should be taken into account social, through family, cultural, economic to the influence of the environment. Submitted the research analyzes the problem of nutritional preferences of older women in the context of maintenance and supporting the health of the whole family. The analysis is focused on the following areas: consumption structure selected products for older women compared to the current requirements of the so-called Golden Card you, the role of tradition in the family's diet, the influence of other family members on the nutrition of the examined women and the influence of these women on the eating habits of their families. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 162 women aged 60–86. Data were collected in Poland, specifically in the Wielkopolska region, in the period between April and June 2008. The results were processed by statistical analysis. Research shows that the eating habits of women of retirement age differ significantly from recommendations in the so-called Golden Nutrition Cards. This situation is alarming, especially in connection with the formation of stra- habits of children and youth. Older people have a significant influence on the formation of eating habits habits of children and youth in their families, through the process of socialization and between generational transmission.
