| Description | In the paper, I presented, in part, the contribution of my doctoral thesis to the study of early literary Modern Greek. Specifically, I focused on the static category of the historical present tense (HP) in Vitsentzos Kornaros' romance Erotokritos (late 16th century) and the pastoral idyll Shepherdess (early 17th century). After examining the semantics of the static HP and its narrative functions, I elucidated the impact of this category on the cognition of the addressees using methodological approaches from the fields of narratology and cognitive linguistics. |
