Description Semiparasitic plants have a specific way of obtaining storage substances that they can obtain from host plants. Due to this way of obtaining resources, semi-parasites have a negative effect on their hosts: They reduce their viability and, in extreme cases, can even kill them off completely. The effect of semi-parasitic plants can therefore be used to suppress undesirable expansive and invasive plants. The contribution summarizes the possibilities of ecological restoration of habitats by sowing semi-parasitic plants.
