Description For most Europeans, internal parasites are more of a myth than an everyday reality and whitish tapeworms preserved in alcohol in dusty glass cylinders are a typical feature of old museum collections and biology rooms. Hardly anyone will hear questions like "What's your Annika's roundworm situation like?" or "Have you wormed Denis this year?" in the sandpit. It's a different story with our closest animal friends. Diseases and problems caused by parasites are a grateful and seemingly perpetual topic of conversation when we go for a walk. That's why we're trying to take a look behind the curtain of veterinary parasitology and lift the curtain on animal parasites, their importance and treatment. While the treatment of animals is the exclusive responsibility of veterinarians, knowledge about parasites is available to everyone.
