Description | Karel Werner (1925-2019) was a leading Czech Indologist specializing in Buddhism. He was also a scholar in the field Study of Religions and his role in the founding of the Institute of the Study of Religions at the Faculty of Arts of MU in the early 1990s was crucial. His life was not an easy one; he was in exile in the UK from 1968, where he worked at the universities of Durham and London.
