Description | Our presentation aims to enrich the discussion on the impact of classroom design on the effectiveness of children's development within the perspective of future teachers. We will present research carried out in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research was to find out what kindergarten student teachers' opinion on age-heterogeneous classrooms is and what arguments they base their opinion on. The research findings show that they prefer heterogeneous classroom arrangements, although their views are not entirely clear. Their main argument for a heterogeneous arrangement that children of different ages and mental maturity can interact in different ways, and that younger children can gain a lot of knowledge from older children. They see the disadvantage of a heterogeneous classroom as the fact that each age group needs a different educational exposure. They consider the personal characteristics of the teacher, his creativity and empathy, and the high quality of his didactic and communicative competences to be a prerequisite for children's development. |
