Description The article presents number of the Crested Lark (Galerida cristata) breeding pairs and their breeding success in the suburbs of Brno (6865 and 6866 grid squares, 225–250 m a. s. l.) in 2018. A study area (60 km2) hosted at least 37 breeding pairs. The breeding sites were most often found within industrial and shopping zones (16 pairs), in field margins adjacent to housing estates and villages (12–13 pairs), at areas of solar power plants (4 pairs) and at areas of cow and horse farms (4 pairs). Approximately, 75 % of Crested Lark nest attempts were not successful. Too frequent mowing of lawns and an intensive construction work together with high nest and fledglings predation rates probably contributes to the recent marked decline of the Crested Lark population in South Moravian region.
