Description The chapter is dedicated to the relationship between copyright law and the use of copyrighted content on the Internet. It thoroughly discusses the ways in which copyright law regulates the use of works in the online environment. Furthermore, it focuses on how technology and the Internet affect the distribution and access to copyrighted works. The author introduces key international treaties that have been concluded to adapt copyright law to the digital era and the online environment, and analyzes the consequences of these treaties for copyright law at the national level. Specific copyright institutions, such as the communication of works to the public, reproduction of works, hyperlinking, and the issue of online platforms' liability, which are crucial for understanding the legal regulation of copyright law in the context of the Internet (including the new legal regulations brought by the DMA and DSA), are also mentioned.
