Description The research report presents the first comprehensive results of the survey GGP-Contemporary Czech Family, carried out from November 2020 to July 2022 within the project "Improvement of data basis for development and evaluation of family policy" (reg. no. TL03000338) co-financed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the ÉTA Programme. This report focuses on the topics of partner and reproductive behaviour and parenting. The first part analyses the formation and dissolution of coresidential unions, the quality of partner relationships, attitudes towards marriage and unmarried cohabitation, and partner homogamy. The second part focuses on parenting – describing the dynamics of changes in entry into parenthood for women and men in terms of generations and levels of education, reproductive plans and norms associated with reproduction, and the conditions for parenthood and its effects on selected areas of individual or partner life. The study shows, among other things, that despite the significant decline in marriage rates, there is no similar decline in coresidential relationships. Unmarried cohabitation is most often in the form of pre-marital unions and is increasing over time. Coresidential unions are most often entered into by university and high school graduates, while coresidential unions are less common among lower educated people. Although the divorce rate in the Czech Republic is gradually decreasing, the instability of coresidential partnerships is increasing and unmarried cohabitation is less stable compared to marriage. Reproductive plans do not yet match the projections of a significant fertility decline. Planning for the two-child family model persists in the declarations. Although childlessness remains low in terms of reproductive plans, motherhood is no longer seen as a necessary part of an individual's life in the declarations of young people. There is considerable uncertainty in reproductive plans; in particular, the financial implications of parenthood and the difficulties of reconciling work and family or the negative impact of parenthood on women's employment opportunities are rated lowest compared to other conditions of parenthood.
