Description This year marks twenty years since the European Union was enlarged by ten new countries, including the Czech Republic. The criteria for membership and the terms of the agreement were negotiated, and on May 1, 2004, the European Union and EU law began to have an impact not only on the functioning and organization of the state, but above all on the daily lives of individuals. We are still experiencing the effects of membership, its pros and cons, to this day, and perhaps with increasing intensity because of the many regulations adopted by EU bodies and binding on states and individuals. The aim of this unique section is to discuss what EU membership has brought to the Czech Republic, what it has not brought, and what it should bring in the future. In the spirit of the EU's motto "United in Diversity", diverse contributions are more than welcome, including the impact of EU (law) on the Czech Republic's membership, including on individuals. The focus is not only on the law of the European Union as such, but also on topics in national legal areas that overlap with the European Union and have an EU dimension. Due to the cross-sectional nature of the section, it is possible to contribute with expert contributions not only from the field of law, but also, for example, from political science, history or economics. Contributions can therefore be both theoretical and applied, as well as reflecting the decisions of the ECJ or the decisions of national courts applying EU law. Contributions focusing on another Member State may also be included (e.g. Slovak, Polish, Hungarian participants or participants from other Member States).
