| Description | During the rescue archaeological research of the company Archaia Brno z.ú., a part of the Upper Brickworks, founded at the end of the 19th century, was uncovered in 2024, during the construction of the southeastern bypass of Žďár nad Sázavou. The company achieved its greatest boom during the First Republic under the owner Karel Löw, a textile magnate who was mainly active in the Jihlava region. Research has documented the product drying rooms, part of the narrow-gauge siding, the well and especially the foundations of the machine shop, which originally housed a steam engine and later a product pressing and service workshop. The findings of the archaeological research could be supplemented by archival research and the recollections of witnesses who worked in the plant just before its demise in the 1970s. |
