| Description | The LIFE in Salt Marshes project aims to restore rare inland salt marsh habitats in the Moravian Pannonia region of the Czech Republic, many of which have been severely degraded or have disappeared due to changes in land use. The project focuses on the ecological restoration of these unique saline ecosystems and the recovery of specialised halophytic vegetation and associated biodiversity. Key restoration measures include habitat management through conservation grazing and targeted hydrological adjustments that help re-establish suitable saline conditions. By combining practical restoration, biodiversity monitoring and innovative tools such as remote sensing, the project develops and demonstrates approaches for the long-term conservation of inland salt marshes that can be transferred to other regions in Central Europe. |
