| Description | Iron Age societies are first and foremost agricultural societies. Therefore, we aim to investigate the development of agricultural territories in a region where large settlement agglomerations emerged during the 3rd century BC, i.e. the Amber Route Corridor in Moravia and Eastern Austria. This region is especially known for the so-called Němčice-Roseldorf central settlements which most researchers assume to have flourished thanks to the emergence of coinage, craft production and trade. However, we want to clarify if and how changes in agricultural production and land use also contributed to this development or could even have been a prime mover of these thorough settlement changes. |
