| Description | Electron-transporting cytochromes in respiratory chains contain various haem types. Recently, a new haem (haem O) very similar to haem A, was found in the strains of E. coli. We detected a haem of the same spectroscopic and chromatographic properties in the of anaerobically grown cells of P. denitrificans and suggested it to be an intermediate in the biosynthetic pathway of haem A. |
