Description Protein p53 seems to be one of the most important tummor suppressor proteins. The DNA binding function is cryptic and can be activated by different stimuli modulating C-terminal domain. The most likely physiological mechanism of p53 activation is posttranslational modification, mainly phosphorylation of specific sites.
