Description Dry ashing in muffle furnace and ashing in low pressure oxygen plasma were compared with acid digestion in pressure vessels, solubilization with tetramethylammonium hydroxide and slurry sampling for the determination of copper in animal liver tissue samples by atomic absorption spectrometry. The ashing in the muffle furnace and in the oxygen plasma were proposed for decomposition of small pieces of liver. These samples were inserted in quartz microbowls and imitated the human liver tissue by biopsy.
