Description A group of monocotyledonous plants, belonging to the order Asparagales was previously reported to lack the Arabidopsis-type telomeres (TTTAGGG)n. To determine what has replaced these sequences, slot-blot-hybridisations were applied to a broad spectrum of species across Asparagales families using seven candidate variants of telomeric minisatellites.
