Description One of the greatest topics in sociology is the question of the reproduction of social stratification and, within it, economic, social, and cultural sources of educational inequality and determinants of life success. Just as entire societies are reproduced, so are families, but that statement can be turned around, which is one of the goals of this paper. Before inspecting how social inequality is reproduced in families, it is necessary to raise the question of how the family reproduces itself as a social institution through the behaviour of individuals on the marriage market. Researching reproduction strategies as flexible practices which follow and break customs, public opinion, or social norms, fixed and social control detailed rules of action and sometimes also modify or create. The paper presents an overview of possible directions for this type of research.
