Description The relationships of Ephemeroptera species to selected environmental variables were studied on the basis of semiquantitative samples from 320 localities taken over the past 10 years in the Czech Republic. First of all, preferred niche dimensions (with respect to individual environmental variables) have been determined at the species level. Statistical methods (standard weighted averaging and Gausian model analyses) were focused primarily on description of variability in environmental preferences within conventional hierarchic system of taxa: species
