Description Askorbic acid is synthetized in mammalia from glucose. In the case of man this synthesis inhibits the absence of enzyme L-gulonolactonoxidase. Ascorbic acid is reducing agent that can be oxidized. For the determination of ascorbic acid the new procedure was developed. The HPLC-ED system was built up from the chromatographic pumps of Model 582 ESA (ESA Inc., Chelmsford, MA), columns of Polaris C18A and eight-channels CoulArray electrochemical detector (Model 5600A, ESA, USA)with eight graphite porous electrodes. Responses were sampled at applied potentials 90, 180, 270, 360, 450, 540, 630, and 720 mV. The detection limit was 90 nM. The developed method was used for the determination of ascorbic acid in pharmaceutical samples and in citrus fruits.
