Description The longest air temperature series in the Czech Republic from the station Praha-Klementinum was selected for the study of spring frost variability in the past. In the contribution daily minimal air temperature and the occurrence of their value under the freezing point (frost day) were studied for period March-May of the years 1775-2003. The number of frost days in spring has registered a statistically significant decrease 0.28 day/10 years. It is not possible to speak about a continuous decrease in number of frost days in the whole 229-year long series. In the second half of the 19th century the majority of the characteristics under the study (number of frost days, occurence of the last frost day, occurrence of potential damaging frosts) reached the maximum). Results of the work will serve as a reference series for interpretation of written records on spring frosts in the Czech lands since 16th century.
