Description This paper deals with territorial administrative reform in the Czech Republic. The attention is paid especially to the second phase of the reform, where district offices were abolished and partly replaced by the communes with broadened competences. An evaluation of newly established administrative centres and boundaries in the Southern Moravia Region based on the travel to work data is given. The comparison with travel to work areas pointed out, that some of the administrative centres and their areas are probably abundant.
