| Description | The semestral e-learning course Lexicology, consisting of 13 topics, introduces students to the linguistic sign, word meaning, the principles of word-formation in English, semantic relations between lexical units, basic word classes and their properties. It outlines the origins, development and stratification of the English word-stock. It stresses approaches to teaching vocabulary based on knowing the semantic range of lexemes, their mutual relations and their use in collocations. The sequenced theoretical introduction to the individual topics is supplemented with worksheets including practical exercises, and later also the key. |
