Description The article consists in an analysis of data about conflicts with suspected racial and ethnic motivation of attacks, as they were recorded by the Police of the Czech Republic in the years 1997 - 2001. There are 992 such events. The analysis shows that the number of thus motivated offences has a growing tendency over the years. The most afflicted localities include Northern Bohemia and Northern Moravia, where more than one half of racially motivated attacks was concentrated in the year 2001. Offenders committing racially motivated criminal acts are mostly members of the majority population of Czech nationality. Contrary to expectations, skinheads represent only approximately 20% of all offenders. It is to be expected, though, that the proportion of skinhead offenders is in reality higher than this. A typical offender is male, between the age of 19 and 25, and relatively frequently he acts on his own, without support of a larger group. Victims of racially motivated crime in the Czech Republic are most frequently Romany.
