Description In studied aquatic ecosystem of ponds the increase (bioaccumulation) of total mercury and methylmercury was observed with increasing level of the food pyramid. The concentrations of total mercury and methylmercury were determined in sediments, in selected tissues of aquatic birds (muscle, intestines, liver, kidney) and fish (muscle, liver, kidneys, skin, gills).
