Description Importance of art collector Heinrich Gomperz was commemorated in the year 2004 by the extensive exhibition in Moravian Gallery in Brno and in the associated catalogue, in which was original contents of this collection reconstructed. H. Gomperz has became in 1882 one of the foundation members of the Moravian Fine-Art-Supporting Association (Maehrischer Kunstverein). Just annual exhibitions hold by this association became main resource of purchase works of art not only for H. Gomperz, which built up for himself probably greatest collection of 19th century art in Brno, but also for another collectors. Additional possibilities of buying provide Vienna and its international art exhibitions, commercial galleries and auction houses. Some works had Gomperz purchased by exchange or buy from his friends and merchant partners which were also the collectors.
