Description In this contribution authors tried to answer several central questions about Czech geography teachers and their interaction with geography textbooks. Which textbooks do they use? What do they do with the textbooks? What aims do the textbooks have in everyday lessons? What criteria are the most important by choosing the new textbook? What requirements do they have with textbooks? We found out, trough the questionaire (the sample of 53 teachers in South Moravian district), that the most teachers use the textbooks to planing and preparing the lessons, then to assign the schoolwork duringy the lesson. The most important criteria by choozing the new textbook were for the teachers good arrangement, whole textbooks series, high quality of visual components and actuality. The next important criteria were for the teachers adequate magnitude of curriculum, questions and tasks quality, separation of the basic curriculum and overall graphical components.
