Description This research report is linked to the previous study „Households and Social Benefits in 1996 - 2000 (Analysis of the Household Budget Survey), VÚPSV Brno 2002”. The main aim of the present study is to show the changes in incomes and the role of social benefits including the impact of social transfers on the living standard of the individual types of households from 2000 to 2003. The analysis is outlined according the family type of households (all households, households of employees and low-incomes households) and their income level (households were sorted according to their per-capita net incomes). We also consider how the social benefits help to protect the income and keep living –standard of households. Data on household’s real incomes for the whole year 2003 have shown (compared with the situation in 2000) that, the total incomes of households have improved. Real growth of earnings was the crucial contributing factor for the favorable development of the purchasing power of households consisting of the economically active members. This statement can be supported both by the trends in selected indicators at micro level (Household Budget Survey) and by the main macroeconomic data. At the same time most types of household faced an increase of social incomes. As were shown before, social transfers are in CR effective in terms of the prevention from the risk of poverty, nevertheless the income position of households with children is worse compared to the other households. Again, this trend can be seen from the year 1996.
