Description Brno municipality faces recently a problem of financial lack in culture, therefore it does not support own allowance organizations as it was usual. There is also a lack of money to support private cultural institutions. In addition, Brno municipality is accused of disobedience to given economic conditions in resource redistribution. According to this ESF MU has initiated research of multiplication effects of grants to theatres in Brno, which is nowadays in progress. The data has been collected in the National Theatre Brno, the City Theatre Brno and in two stages of the Centre of Experimental Theatre. Information has been acquired from economic departments and from subscribers. Demand side analysis is often left out in traditional evaluations of public cost effects in culture, esp. theatres. This approach is not new, it was applied in 1999 to four non-Prague theatres, but nevertheless it could give useful information for Brno which may help to solve above mentioned problems. The goal of this paper is to inform about used methods, process and running results of this research.
