Description The aim of this study is to provide information on movement activity in the Czech Republic, which are comparable with the characteristics of the usual abroad, which will be followed in the next few years and to allow an objective assessment of the state and trends in the active lifestyle. Research consists of a set of systematic random representative sample of 15 to 69 men (n = 5186) and women (n = 5614) from all regions of the Czech Republic. The level of physical activity was established through a short version International Physical Activity Questionnaire in the context of the worldwide research. For the older population occurs in both men and women to fall in the number of days per week, which operate intensive physical activity to decrease the time given to this type of movement activity. In the middle movement burdensome activity and walking are differences in terms of age and sex in the most important parameters. The total volume of physical activity decreases with age especially in men. Men are generally physically active (Mdn = 4,776 MET-min week-1) than women (Mdn = 3,705 MET-min week-1). Only 39.69% of the population of the Czech Republic meets the requirements of Healthy people 2010. The dominating physical activity is walking people. Age significantly reduces the involvement of both men and women in organized physical activity. Monitoring the status and trends in the functional activity of the population, it is necessary to include in the regular monitoring of levels of development and health, culture and sports in the Czech Republic.
