Description The contribution presents the results of the first two stages of the research that is focused on the inquiry of aesthetic perceiving and experiencing change caused by an application of tranquility meditation techniques (samatha). Buddhist psychology of Abhidhamma is their source. In the first stage the field research of meditation techniques was executed in the traditional cultures of Sri Lanka and Burma in 2002 - 2004. On this base a ten-day course of tranquility meditation technique training was realized in 2005 (20 participants), which was lead by the authors of the research. Experiencing the aesthetics of colors and elements of fire, water and others is the subject of meditation training inquiry. The fact that those techniques were successfully applied in the European culture creates conditions for the third stage of inquiry, which is determined by the research question forming the title of the text.
