Description This book follows loosely the structure of the previous anthology from the editor, Dívčí válka s ideologií: Klasické texty angloamerického feministického myšlení [Girls' war against ideology: classics of Anglo-American feminist thought] (Praha: Sociologické nakladatelství, 1998). While this volume focuses on literature and, specifically, on new theoretical feminist approaches to literature, it also includes several earlier texts formulating the premises of a gender sensitive approach to literature. The texts identify the problems of gender-blindness in mainstream literary criticism (Dale Spender) and of a similar blindness to difference within the mainstream of feminist criticism (Zimmerman, Mohanty). They grapple with important theoretical and critical directions (Waugh, Pearce, Mills), critically categorise and suggest new methodologies (Coward, Showalter, Radway), and take feminist approaches as points of departure for new critical appreciation of men's writing from the perspective of reflected masculinity (Schoene a Lea, Schoene). Each text is introduced by the author's profile and by a note on the text from the editor.
