| Description | Antiseptics are synthetic antimicrobials which are able to kill or to inhibit growth and division of microorganisms and which are non toxic for viable tissue. Antiseptics act non specifically ( in comparison with antibiotics), they have a broad antimicrobial spectrum and a resistence can arise very seldom. Silver, iodine, chlorhexidine, honey and polihexanid are used for the local treatment of chronic wounds. |
