| Description | In the present contribution the Egyptian word rmč "people" is analyzed as a compound "son/child/born of men". The etymology is illustrated by numerous examples of related roots in Cushitic, Berber and Chadic languages, and in Semitic languages from the point of view of semantic typology. |
